Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard surfaces
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his first championship for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.
The athlete, a ex- number one, has had a difficult year, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in particular - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with former coach Gilles Cervara.
Presently collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
This represents the player's first title after the Rome competition and first on a hard surface from March of 2023.
Success also signifies the Russian has secured twenty-one titles at 21 various events.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my both daughters together, so to get a title is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in honour of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, including in that event in the past months.
Medvedev's retrieving play style and recurring emotional displays on court had led some to doubt if his ability to play at the elite level was concluded.
But the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform positively, supported by an improved service.
The champion recovered from a break down in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, securing four of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.
Both players traded break points in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his initial tour championship, gained dominance to push for a decider.
Moutet defended four early-game opportunities in a close third set before Medvedev won the break to that score to close out the victory.
Appropriately, Medvedev clinched victory with a point at the net area, with his opponent incapable to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
